The Cucamonga Valley Water District (CVWD) recently underwent a data breach.  From August 26, 2019, and October 14, 2019, the Click2Gov web portal, maintained and operated by outside vendor Central Square, was accessed by an unauthorized party.

Central Square conducted an investigation with the help of a cybersecurity firm to determine the extent of the breach. The investigation revealed that personal credit card information of customers who paid on the portal could have been collected, but “they were unable to find conclusive evidence that CVWD customer’s [sic] personal information was actually collected by any unauthorized party.” Since the discovery of the breach, Central Square has taken the necessary precautions to prevent this type of intrusion in the future.
